The Fear Of The Lord 2

The fear of the Lord is indispensable.

Romans 3:10: As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 Destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 And the way of peace have they not known: 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

There is an iron-clad connection between unforgiven sin and a lack of the fear of the Lord.

Proverbs 9:10: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

What would the beginning of knowledge and wisdom and understanding be? The beginning of knowledge is that we are sinners in need of God*s forgiveness. It is the knowledge that God loves us and wants to save us and forgive us. It is the knowledge that Jesus died to pay the wages of our sin. It is the knowledge that we need to receive Jesus. We know nothing of spiritual value before we receive Jesus and after we receive Him there is an abundance of knowledge that is available to us. When we receive Jesus we begin to know God Himself. We are no longer trapped in only knowing about Him.

John 17:3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

2 Peter 1:2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

Proverbs 1:29: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

Receiving or rejecting Jesus is a choice. When we choose Jesus we also choose knowledge and wisdom and understanding. Wisdom and understanding are knowing what to do with the knowledge.

1 Corinthians 1:30: But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
